Bill White launched 3 homeruns and had 8 RBI as the
amazing Mount Pleasant Mad
Dogs man-handled the Atlantic City Diamond Aces - the
final score was 11 to
1.
White had a big day with his bat. He slapped a one-base hit knocking in a run
in the 1st inning, laced a
base-hit in the 4th inning, popped a two-run clout
over the fence in the 6th
inning, lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 7th
inning and lifted one out of the
park for a two run home run (his 14th of the
season) in the 9th inning. Atlantic City
was out-hit by Mount Pleasant,
16
hits to 8.
Bob Friend(15-3) got the win
allowing 1 run in 6 innings. The loss was charged
to Steve Barber(6-15). Mount
Pleasant scored big getting 7 runs off him in 6
and 1/3 innings.
'White led the way - we just jumped on his back and let
him take us,' Friend
said. 'I'm glad I don't have to
face him. I'm glad he's on my team.'

Second baseman Julian Javier launched 2 homeruns as the
Carolina Grays
defeated the North Bend Tadjers by a score of 11 to 4 at Busch
Stadium.
Javier provided much of the offense. He quieted the crowd by clouting a Grand
Slam in the 5th inning and caught a hold of a bad pitch
for a Grand Slam
homerun (his 3rd of the season)
in the 8th inning. Carolina managed 12 in
their victory.
Terry Fox(5-4) got credit for
the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing no
runs. Bob Gibson(9-4)
was the loser. He allowed 10 hits and 2
walks in 7
innings.

Ernie Broglio allowed only 1
hit resulting in a big goose egg on the
scoreboard for North
Bend as the very potent Des Moines Dusters beat the
North Bend Tadjers by a score
of 2 to 0.
Broglio(7-1) came through with a virtuoso performance against the North Bend
hitters. He didn't allow much, just 1 hit and 3 walks
in 9 innings. The
North Bend batters went
down meekly in the 9th.
Whitey Ford(6-6) was hit with
the loss. He allowed 7 hits and no walks
in 7
innings. 'We didn't have a whole lot of chances
today,' Derek Lipson said.
'Broglio just was too much for
our guys.'

WEB GEMS- Top 9th: Tony Gonzalez robbed Yogi Berra of an
extra base hit.
Jim Bouton took a no-hitter
into the 6th inning at Tiger Stadium as the
Oneonta Tigers beat the El Monte Pythons by the count of
5 to 0.
Bouton(3-3) came through with a virtuoso performance against the El Monte
hitters. He allowed just 1 hit and 2 walks in 9
innings lowering his ERA
from 3.25 to 2.85. The right-handed Bouton
lost his chance for a no-hitter
when Yogi Berra doubled with two
outs in the 6th inning. Oneonta finished
with just 5 hits in the
victory.
Hank Aguirre(3-4) was the losing
pitcher. 'Bouton
was the man tonight,' Eric
Melton said. 'He
had just about every pitch working.'
