In a thriller the Hill Valley Lightning Bolts staged a
dramatic comeback then
held on to win over the Peoria
Chiefs by a score of 8 to 4 at New
York.
Hill
Valley erupted with the
game winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 6
runners on 5 hits. The big moment was provided by Roger Maris who quieted
the crowd when he lofted a
three-run bomb (his 1st of the season).
Hill
Valley ended up with 11 hits for the game while Peoria had 6.
The victory went to Larry Sherry(1-0)
who went 2 innings, allowing no runs.
Ryne Duren(0-1) was given the
loss in relief. Denton Edwards was all
smiles
after the game, 'To pull a game
out in your last at bats, is a beautiful
feeling - and did you see how
quiet it got out there? You could have heard a
pin drop when we took the
lead. But, hey, that's what makes
baseball so
great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over 'til its over.'
