Hank Foiles had 3 base hits and
2 RBI as the So Cal Knights defeated the
Kansas City Athletics in 10 innings by a score of 11 to
10 at The
Coliseum.
The score was tied at 9 after nine. So Cal won the game in the 10th inning.

going, but he went
down on strikes. One out later, Ray Boone stepped in and he
stroked a single
which scored a run. Gus Triandos kept
the inning going and slapped a

victors to the delight of the home town
faithful. A wild affair, this game saw the lead change
5 times.
The win went to Tom Gorman(3-3)
who allowed 1 run in 2 innings. Hal Brown(1-2)
ended up with the loss in
relief. He pitched 1 inning and

WEB GEMS- Bot 4th: Lou Berberet blocked the plate, saving a run!
It was a wild 12 inning day in The Coliseum where the So
Cal Knights defeated
the Peoria Chiefs by the score
of 13 to 12.
The score was knotted at 12 after nine innings. Finally, So Cal pulled the
game out in the 12th
inning. Ted Williams delivered a
single. Roy Sievers
was a strikeout victim, unable
to help out. Jerry Lynch then lined a
base-hit. Dick Gray struck out, unable to help the
rally. Don Zimmer
stepped into the box and drew a
walk to load the bases. Gus Triandos added
to the rally and drew a walk
making So Cal the victor and beginning a joyous
home town celebration. So Cal lit up the scoreboard in the 1st
inning which
saw them plate 4 runs on 3 hits
and the 5th inning with 4 runs on 5 hits.
This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead
changed hands 5
times.

allowing no runs for the victory. Ryne Duren(4-3)
was given the loss in
relief. Despite losing, he struckout 7 So Cal batters

Bob Turley tossed a shutout as the Kansas City Athletics defeated
the
struggling Carolina Grays by a
score of 1 to 0 at Municipal
Stadium.
Turley(2-1) looked very much in
control throughout the day. He was
stingy on
the mound, allowing just 5 hits
and 4 walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA
from 4.85 to 2.86. Carolina threatened in the 9th but Kansas
City was able
to put down the rally.
Russ Kemmerer(0-2) was charged
with the loss. 'We didn't get the key
hits
when we needed them' Raymond Grasing said. 'We did what we could, we just
didn't pull out the win. What
can you say?'
