1958 Awards
MVP
The 1958 AARBL season saw the Hill Valley Lightning Bolts capture their first league crown, and no one was more responsible for getting them there than outfielder Mickey Mantle. As a result of his achievements as the main man in Hill Valley, Mantle was awarded with his first ever MVP award. Mantle won the award in grand style, by clubbing 47 home runs, collecting 122 RBIs, and hitting .336, while slugging .638, with a .442 on base percentage. In the voting, Mantle received 8 of 10 first place votes, and easily bested runner-up Willie Mays of the Peoria Chiefs for the award.

Cy Young
For the second time in Franchise history, the Wilmington Hornets have a Cy Young award winner. This year's recipient was dick Donovan, who joined teammate Billy Pierce (1955) as the other Wilmington recipient. Anchoring a staff that also included Pierce and E.R.A. champion Arnie Portocarrero, Donovan led the Hornets to a second place finish in the Eastern Division. Donovan led the league in wins, and compiled a 24-8 record to go along with his 2.72 E.R.A. In the Cy Young Award voting, Donovan garnered all but one first place vote, and was named on all 10 ballots, as he easily bested Warren Spahn of the Des Moines Dusters for the coveted award.

Babe Ruth
In the closest Babe Ruth award voting in AARBL history, Willie Mays of the Peoria Chiefs garnered the award for the 1958 season. Unlike past winners, Mays was not voted the league's MVP, but put up impressive enough numbers to persuade voters that he was the league's best offensive player. Mays led the Chiefs to their second straight Eastern Division title, and along the way, he compiled a gaudy .344 batting average with 31 home runs, 116 RBIs, and 63 stolen bases. Mays also slugged .581, with a .418 on base percentage. In the voting, Mays received 3 first place votes and in a tight race, bested last year's winner Ted Williams to earn the award

Rookie of the Year
With the first pick in the 1958 rookie entry draft, the Des Moines Dusters selected first baseman/outfielder Orlando Cepeda. The Baby Bull made an immediate impact at the AARBL level. Cepeda walked away with the rookie of the year award easily besting Ryne Duren of the Peoria Chiefs. On the season, Orlando shined for a Des Moines team that struggled to remain in the Eastern Division race. For the year, Cepeda batted .326 with 27 HRs and 93 RBIs, stole 19 bases, and slugged .518. In the Rookie of the Year voting, Cepeda was named on all 10 ballots, and garnered 8 of 10 first place votes.
