1956 Awards
MVP
Sometimes, the more thing change, the more they remain the same. This was the case for Ted Kluszewski during the 1956 AARBL season, as the slugging Peoria Chiefs first baseman took home his third consecutive MVP award. The Big Klu copped the award by winning his second consecutive Triple Crown and leading the Chiefs to a first place tie in the Eastern Division. For the season, Ted clubbed 55 home runs, collected 166 RBI's, and hit a career best equaling .365. In the voting, Klu received 9 of 10 first place votes, and easily bested Mickey Mantle of the Fremont Fear and Stan Lopata of the Wilmington Hornets for the award.

Cy Young
The 1956 AARBL Cy Young race was a tight one, but in the end, North Bend Tadjers left hander Herb Score proved to be the people's choice. Relying upon a deadly fastball, Score led a much improved North Bend squad to third place in the Western Division. Score compiled a 16-11 record for the Tadjers, and led the league in strikeouts with 268, and E.R.A. allowing 2.84 earned runs per game. In the Cy Young Award voting, Score gathered 5 first place votes, and was named on all ten ballots, as he bested Don Newcombe of the So Cal Knights and Dick Donovan of the Wilmington Hornets.
