MVP
1954 was the year of the Big Klu in Peoria as the slugging first baseman led the Chiefs to a league best 107-47 record and the Eastern Division crown, and won the league's inaugural MVP award besting teammate Willie Mays by a wide margin. Kluszewski, who was named on 9 of 10 ballots, led the league with 54 homers, 164 RBIs, and 211 hits. He also played in all of the Chiefs 154 games and finished second in batting with a .331 average.

Cy Young
Virgil Trucks was the dominant force on the mound for the league champion Oswego Panthers. Trucks compiled a league best 22 wins against 7 losses and was a unanimous choice for the league's first Cy Young Award. Trucks sported a league best 2.27 E.R.A. in 274 innings, and was ultra tough down the stretch as he won 9 of his last 10 decisions to lead Oswego to the Western Division crown after a heated pennant race with the Butte Stompers.

In addition to the MVP award, Ted Kluszewski was also the proud recipient of the AARBL's first ever Babe Ruth Award which will be given every season to the league's most productive offensive player. Kluszewski totaled 54 home runs with 164 RBI and a .331 batting average while leading the Chiefs to a league best 107-47 record and the Eastern Division crown. In the voting, the Big Klu received 8 first place votes and was named on all 10 ballots.

During the 1954 AARBL season, Hoyt Wilhelm was the premier reliever. Wilhelm compiled a league best 40 saves with a 3-3 record and a 2.54 E.R.A. Wilhelm was automatic, totaling 110 Rolaids Reliever points, 27 better than runner up Johnny Sain who finished with 83.
