Kansas City
Closing Out West
Welcome to the
home of the All American Retro Baseball League. The league, founded in 2003,
uses popular Strat-O-Matic software to re-live baseball's glory years beginning
with the 1954 season. Games are played via email and netplay, and there are
currently 14 teams vying for league supremacy.
The 1963 season has completed its tenth
phase, and the Mount Pleasant
Mad Dogs suddenly have company near the top of the Western Division. The Dogs are sill setting the pace with a
78-36 record, but their arch rivals the Kansas
City A’s are closing fast, and trail only by 4 games. In the East, the Des Moines Dusters now own a league best 79-35
record, and own an 8 game division lead.
On the awards front, Carl Yastrzemski of the Oneonta Tigers is hitting a
league leading .353, and Willie Mays of the Peoria Chiefs is not far behind at .349. Overall, Hank Aaron of the Kansas City A’s, and Willie Mays are in a
fierce battle for the MVP Award. Aaron
is hitting .307, with 32 HRs, and 100 RBIs, and Mays has added 27 HRs
and 87 RBI to his .349 average. Bob
Friend of Mt. Pleasant
and Ernie Broglio of Des Moines
are Cy Young candidates with an 18-3 record with a 1.94 E.R.A., and a 12-2
record with a 2.20 E.R.A. respectively.
